Rules for bots chat

Bots chat is a small chat server hosted by floR, we hope you enjoy conversing with other members of the bots community using this chat client. Some of the rules the moderation team will enforce are:

  • No CAPS
    The reason for this is because it is like shouting, its unsightly and is preferable that they are not used excessively
  • No swearing
    Not -no- swearing but please dont use it excessively, its unsightly and rude.
  • No excessive argueing (obvious why)
    If you have an argument with someone there are private message functions and other channels, if it gets out of hand you will be kicked.
  • Begging for temporary modship (plain annoying)
    Kickable offence, if you are going to be made a temporary mod you will be approached not vice versa.
  • No spamming (again annoying)
    Don't repeat yourself a silly amount of times, don't copy and paste a script to a movie or a whole song etc etc, self explanatory really.
  • No idleing (floR doesn't like it)
    If you are going to be away from your keyboard for more than an hour (sleep/work) please have the courtesy to leave chat, if not we, the chat mods, will do it for you and you might find yourself banned.
  • No rascism, or other sort of discrimination (speaks for itself)
    Please refrain from using racist or otherwise needlessly offensive comments (like religion, sexual orientation, etc), this is a bannable offence.

FAQ

Q: I was kicked out of chat, why?
A: Being kicked out of chat is a warning that you have broken a rule.

Q: I was banned from chat, why?
A: You have ignored your warnings and are now banned.

Q: I was banned, when will I be unbanned?
A: Generally the ban list is reset occasionally. If you have been banned for longer than a month, mail the mod that banned you.

Q: I cannot connect to chat using the chat link, why?
A: There are many reasons but the most common problem is that you do not have "Java" for the latest and greatest Java plugins go to www.java.com.

Q: What is Nakencow?
A: Nakencow is a program you can use to view chat, once downloaded use the simple instructions on the chat page to connect.

Q: Can I connect to chat with any other chat clients?
A: Yes you can use mIRC and other such programs, also chatzilla however you require a script to do so.

Q: Who are the mods?
A: floR, Lady Sin, Whitestar, Asian, Dynamitecop, Angelo.
If none of these are online, you still need to behave, because chances are that a 'temp' mod is around.

Q: How did you become a mod?
A: Requested by floR

Q: Can I be a mod?
A: Possibly, obey the rules, be an active user and maybe you'll be asked, after a period of trial 'temp' mod. Note: this does not mean that a 'temp' mod will necessarily become a 'real' mod.

On a side note, all bots chat rules are enforced at the mods's discretion. If something is not enforced or you are kicked/banned for any other reason feel free to contest your kick/ban with the mod whom kicked/banned you. Needless to say, keep such a discussion civilized.
